India is really progressing. Seriously, I had expected this case to take ages for a closure. Not only has the court taken 5 years less than its usual 10-yr average, it has finally delivered the right verdict. The Yadav’s deserve a life term, if not a death penalty.

Very heartening to know that the Katara family has finally got the verdict in their favor for you hardly see justice being done in cases where these political goons are involved. I will vouch for a death penalty here simply because these goons from Gaziabaad killed Nitesh for their own pride. It wasn’t a big fault as Nitish merely had a relationship with their sister but their complete disrespect for law had made them blind. The court should set an example by hanging them so that such people fear law and comprehend the meaning of the word crime.

It is good that the platform of blog is available to put the things in the right perspective. The grand paternal father of the victim Nitish Katara is a retired Deputy Inspector General of Police (U.P.), settled at Muzaffarnagar. His name is Avtar Narain Kaul. A successful police officer who made to the IPS through the Provincial Police Services is a practical man. He had a good clout in the U.P. Police.
As many as 14 relatives of the victim Nitish Katara including his father belong to IAS tribe, thus wielding a clout over the bureaucracy.
But appreciation should have been given to the mother of the victim and daughter of the DyIG who continued her fight against odds and succeeded in the six-year long run.
In fact, it was a junior sub-inspector of U.P. Police who succeeded in getting the confession from the accused Vikas Yadava and recovered the hammer, used to smash the head of the victim.

It’s quite good to see justice being served. The accused certainly deserve lifers for their pre-planned act of murder. This judgment will certainly improve the common man’s faith in India’s criminal justice system. The media too has played it’s part by being a responsible arm of our democracy.

The only problem with Media is that it is never made a party as a witness in the court. Media only plays a role in any given investigation at the beginning . Sensationalism is what it thrives on. It should be made a party at least in criminal cases so that the media also gets conscious of their apt roles.
