Did you ever see a tiny baby learn how to walk? No? You better do it at the earliest, for,it will make you see the thin line of difference between success and failure.

“Failure is the opportunity to begin again more intelligently”,

Goes the famous one-liner by Henry Ford. The baby kept falling each time she gave it a try to take the first step. But the fall didn’t deter her from attempting the next time with more grit and perseverance. When she felt, she wept. And adding to her woes were the tear drops tickling down from the eyes on her bubbly cheeks. But when the tears dried up, she was ready once again to make a fresh beginning. The best part was of course, the absence of fear from falling.

There is a saying in Chinese which when translated means “Failure Is The Mother Of Success!”. In other words, it means failures give birth to success. Another interpretation could be that if we are desirous to taste success quickly, then we must face as many failures at the quickest time possible. The rationale behind this is simple. To err is human. So, when we make mistakes, we learn from them. The more quickly we learn, the closer we are to embrace success.

Let me give you few instances from history which would strengthen this notion.

Did you know, when he was aged mere 22 he had to pull down his shutters after suffering a huge business loss; when he was 23 he dared to contest the state legislature but lost the election; at age 24 he failed again in his business venture; at 26 he was disheartened at the loss of his lass; at 27 he had to encounter a nervous breakdown; at 34 yet again gave it a try to win the Congress but had to face defeat; at 39 he again lost an election when he ran for Congress; at 46 , as luck would have it for him, he lost the election again; at 47 he lost his ticket when he contested for Vice President; at 49 he again lost when he opted for the Senate; at the age of 51, he did contest the election and win it more convincingly. He was elected as the President of the United States.

Any guesses who was he? His name was Abraham Lincoln.

Aren’t we happy to give the polio injections each time a new born arrives in the family? But, do you know the man, Jonas Salk, who found polio vaccine, had to encounter failures after failures for FIFTEEN long years just to achieve this ONE milestone?

Thomas Alva Edison had to face the wrath of FAILURE as many as 1000 times, before he was blessed by the lady god SUCCESS and he was able to gift the human mankind with the gift of Bulb.

Walt Disney made a failed attempt to secure a loan from approximately 400 banks and was on the verge of going bankrupt, before he met a bank who was willing to fork out the loan for his project, what is now better known as Disneyland.

You must have relished reading A.J.Cronin’s “The Stars Look Down” ? But you might be amused to know that this classic novel was rejected a couple of dozen times by publishers before being finally accepted.

Life, at times teaches you the hard way. And going by what life has taught me, I can only put before you few sure ways to attain success.

1.Be a good learner from your past mistakes and failures,
2.Don’t linger on it and move ahead in life.
3.Don’t allow the fear to overcome your zest to try once more
4.A person is known by the dress he wears and the friends he keeps. Hence, get into the company of people who are positive minded and go-getter(s)!
5.Failure is just a learning process. “There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure.” – Colin Powell

There are no set rules for success. What might work for you, might not necessarily work me and vice-versa. But the real key is not to give up and keep trying once more. Instead of focusing on failures, we should rather focus on giving it a try once more with zeal. Remember, Success is SWEET, but the secret is SWEAT.

If you are wise, you will not deny that you are not the first person on this planet who has tasted failures. Never shy away for attempting once more only because you are too scared of failures. Its worth remembering that when you are successful, at least you will have the stories of failures to tell to the world!

Finally, failure is determined by what you allow to happen, success by what you make happen
